The planting medium
As mentioned earlier I'm using rockwool 1 inch cubes as my planting medium.

 

Rockwool has many advantages over planting straight to compost/soil, not least of which is the fact that at this stage, I was still unsure of where the cuttings would end up, (either in compost, or in hydro).

 

By using rockwool cubes I can either transfer into larger 3 inch cubes for growing on in hydro.  Or, I can plant the 1 inch cubes into pots of compost, just as if the cubes never existed.

 

Versatile!

 

I use a small 'dibber', (a cocktail stick or similar) to widen the hole first, else the 1 inch cube is a 'tight fit' for even the thinnest of cuttings.
